The Burial

The Plans

As part of the preparation, Hugh sent the following message:

The ashes will be buried on 26th April in All Saints' Garden of Remembrance, where her beloved Honza's ashes were buried.

Aunty Shirley has very kindly invited all of us who want to to meet at her house beforehand, as and when we arrive. She will provide a buffet.

We will then proceed to All Saints, by car and/or on foot, for 3pm:

Pooky has arranged for the verger to be there and to raise the turf. She has also arranged for Margaret Jones to conduct a small service; Margaret is a vicar (I think) and is a very good friend of hers; she has met both Aunty Marta (Marta/Mamo/Babicka) and Tony.
Pooky has asked Ori to say the Kaddish, the Jewish prayer of mourning.

After the burial, those who wish to will go and visit Grandpa's (Max/Great-grandpa) grave north of Newcastle.

Those who wish are then scheduled to eat at 5pm. A carvery is organised (Ł15 per person) at the

The Day

The day went pretty much as planned, I think.

It was better than it might have been, because Olly was looking particularly improved that morning.

Pooky produced an Order of Service.
Hana, Thom and Yaron sent a message from Australia, which was read at the service.
Blahoslav read his words.
Nikki sent a message which was read, but I don't (yet?) have.

The ceremonies were punctuated with pauses for photos, which are here.

I have assembled the photos into little movies: (1.6Meg) and (2.3Meg).

Any accounts or other words are welcome, and should be sent to me.
